Not just a Nordic event: a genuine local tradition!

Take a race that was born in 2008, Nordic ski enthusiasts, a bit of madness with masquerade costume and you get a real cross-country masked ball. Over the years, this cross-country ski team race has become a genuine local tradition in the hamlet of Les Gourniers. Its natural setting in the middle of the mountains is simply magical. Indeed, when you arrive at Les Gourniers, you're fascinated by the wild, unspoilt nature that marks the southern gateway to the Ecrins National Park.

A festive program in an exceptional natural setting

This event has become a must at the start of the winter vacations. So come one, come all to discover a Nordic ski area accessible to all, in a festive and friendly atmosphere. It's D-day: a little elf warms up while a magician battles with a pirate, and all the teams are ready to be the first under the finishing arch. Disguise is not compulsory for this popular race, but it is strongly recommended. One thing's for sure, though: good spirits are a must!

Practical information on "Trafanelle" :

  • Race open to all, aged 4 to 94, beginners or advanced
  • Teams of 3. You can assemble your team directly on site.
  • Almost 1km loop
  • 10 compulsory laps, i.e. around 10km in an untimed relay. The 3 participants in the team can organize themselves as they wish, as long as each participant has completed at least one lap.

Meet at the Réallon ski resort, at the "Courtier" ski lift platform.

  • Registration starts at 9 a.m.
  • 10am: Start of the race.
  • 12pm: Aperitif, mulled wine, chocolate. Fast food available on site: sandwiches, soup, drinks... Or feel free to visit the restaurant Le Mélèzin or the Gite des 3 cols, where you can enjoy traditional family and mountain cuisine in a friendly atmosphere.
  • Awards: according to entries: youngest team, oldest team, team with the greatest age difference, best-dressed team, three best times...

For many, the event will be an opportunity to discover or rediscover the Réallon Nordic ski area, a wild and magical environment with over 52km of cross-country ski trails for all levels, snowshoe and pedestrian itineraries, and a Fatbike route.

Event subject to snow conditions. If it is not possible to use a cross-country ski track, the race will be held around the ski carpet at 4:30pm.

'' La Trafanelle is a great opportunity for families to discover cross-country skiing in a fun way! We had a lot of fun improvising costumes, and everyone found cross-country skiing fun, far from the image of a demanding sport... We highly recommend it!
