Ski touring Réallon

Réallon has all the makings of a great company!

The Serre du Mouton itinerary combines all the ingredients that characterize ski touring:

  • A first part in the forest, in a hushed atmosphere
  • A transition zone, where the forest gives way to alpine meadows, allowing the landscape to open up to the hiker's delight.
  • An arrival in a more alpine atmosphere, depending on conditions and motivation: the summit of the resort, the orientation table or the slopes and breaches of the Aiguilles de Chabrières for experienced skiers.

The climb, prelude to one of the most beautiful panoramas!

It's the climb that makes all the difference! It doesn't present any particular technical difficulty, with a modest vertical drop of 600m, but it gives the hike all its flavour!

Passing between the Serre du Mouton and the orientation table a few hundred meters after the summit of the resort, the classic route follows a ridge. Without being extreme, this ridge makes the route particularly aesthetic, with breathtaking aerial views: to the south, the sun shimmers over the Lac de Serre-Ponçon, revealing its treasures: chapelle Saint-Michel, pont de Chanteloube and wild creeks. In the background, the Gapençaise plain and the Alpes de Hautes-Provence massif remind us that lavender and Provence are not far away. To the north, the Ecrins massif reveals itself as you gain altitude. Les Gourniers, at the bottom of the valley, is one of the natural gateways to the Ecrins National Park. The peaks rise to over 3,000 metres and stretch as far as the eye can see. The orientation table will help you find your way between Mont Ventoux far to the south and Mourre Froid, Pelvoux and Barre des Ecrins to the north.

'' The magic of Réallon for me is being able to ski-tour twice a day during my family vacations: once in the early morning before the kids wake up, and once in the evening when the resort closes.
